Typical structure of current treatment model and the missing piece

Typical contemporary treatment structure endorses medical control, physical therapy, vitamins, nutrition. This treatment model and approach may have provided you with satisfactory results in resolving or controlling your symptoms. But what if the results were poor or unsatisfactory? What is your next step? How do you make your next decision for treatment? To what or whom do you turn to for relief? You may have asked: “Was something missing in my treatment?

In order to find the right solution, I strongly suggest you think “outside the box” first. Similar to solving the nine dots puzzle, where you are challenged to connect three rows of three dots forming a square, I will help you become more aware of what thinking “outside the box” means.

With improved awareness, it will be easier to understand the potential of Mind-body techniques, and that they really were perhaps missing in your treatment. It is probable that you were not an active part in the conventional bio-medical treatment model, aimed at only addressing the body and not the mind. Along with neglecting specific techniques designed to comprehensively address the entire picture of your health and recovery, something else was missing — you! While using Mind-body techniques, you becoming actively involved in a process that involves using the power of your mind to heal your body.

You may be aware that your mind is very powerful. You may have accomplished and achieved a lot of things in your life because of the power of your mind. Taking this idea one step further, does the thought that you can use the very same power of your mind to heal your body sound interesting? If so, then look no further.

By adding mind-body techniques to already existing conventional methods, you can extend the depth of your treatment interventions to address possible sources of your symptoms that may have never even been brought to your attention.

Mind-body techniques can greatly empower you to decrease dependency on medications, specialists, and significant others. Furthermore, you will be provided with plenty of guidance and education on employing these techniques to control your symptoms any time, in any real life situation!

Biofeedback and other Mind-Body techniques

The core of the program is the state – of – the – art Biofeedback, providing you with a “physiological mirror” to help usher you into a “zone” of balanced mind, body and peak performance. Biofeedback technology will help you see your body’s response to your efforts in real-time. The healing process is often expedited with the inclusion of objective data, increasing your confidence in your abilities and revealing your potential for improvement. During Biofeedback training other mind-body techniques could be used.

A variety of active Muscle tension reduction and control techniques and Relaxation Techniques and strategies will help you relax your mind and body, control tension and stress, and elicit a Relaxation response.

The Buteyko Breathing Technique has a strong scientific basis, and has already been proven as highly effective by numerous medical trials as well as endorsements. As you progress through your individualized training, you will learn a variety of breathing techniques, all designed to control one of the main physiological functions of your body; respiration. Such changes in respiration using the Buteyko Breathing Technique, will lead to better oxygenation of your body’s cells and tissues. Through employing this Technique, even while you sleep, you will begin to feel how overall better breath control can significantly improve symptoms and enhance performance.

Emotional freedom techniques EFT and Hypnosis techniques may also become an important part of your treatment. Often times it is equally important to address any emotional obstacles that may be standing in the way of your progress, including the resolution of any unhealthy habits and lifestyle issues.

What is multifaceted approach, and how it can benefit you

Can one technique cover all aspects of your problems? Maybe yes, but maybe no. Sometimes that missing technique or approach may prevent you from good, or even better outcomes.

The benefit of a multifaceted approach is its tendency to capture symptoms which may not even be addressed using single approach modalities. By using a combination of techniques, each client stands a better chance of more effectively bringing mental, physiological and emotional aspects of functioning into balance.

Clients often express interest in a particular technique or modality to address a given issue. For example, let’s assume the client would like to achieve relief from anxiety through the Buteyko Breathing Technique. The training starts with a breathing profile, which will likely show that the client needs to address issues other than those directly impacted by or related to their breathing. He/she may be very tense and unaware of how tension is affecting his/her breathing and symptoms. Furthermore, the client may desire validation that definitive changes are really occurring. In this case, the client would then be offered further Relaxation Techniques with Biofeedback monitoring, which may enrich training and increase efficacy.

In contrast, a multifaceted approach lends itself to learning a breadth of techniques aimed at achieving a broader, more all-encompassing goal. For example, improving sports performance includes controlling stress response, improved breathing mechanics and respiration, and how to achieve a peak performance zone at will. In action, a multifaceted approach may include: Buteyko Technique for breathing control, Relaxation for sleep function, EFT and Biofeedback monitoring for stress control and objective data for indicating peak performance.

As we work together, based on my recommendations and your goals, it will ultimately become your choice to employ whichever technique, or sequence/combination of techniques you will use in achieving your goals.
